In August of 2025, the Brown Deer Public Library lower level was flooded. The library lost 5,170 books and 823 non-fiction DVD’s. The library sustained almost $500,000 in losses. 

The GFWC-Brown Deer Junior Woman's Club formed a  committee to apply for a grant from the GFWC Library Replenishment Fund. With the help of the Director of the Brown Deer Public Library, paperwork was submitted to the Fund. 

On March 24, we were informed that our application was accepted, and a check for $5,000 was sent to us for the Library. The presentation to the director of the Library took place on April 14, 2026.  (Fittingly, it happened during a tornado warning.)
