What Else We Did This Summer
August 2026
We hope you had a good summer! The Brown Deer Junior Woman's Club was busy. In addition to the stories about some of our activities that you can read about below, here are a few more things we did this summer....
From a Club member’s relative, we learned that a Madison church group was sewing pillowcase dresses for underprivileged girls in Africa through Little Dresses for Africa and was seeking donations.
Through donations from Club members, friends, and our Spring Rummage Sale, we collected and donated 63 pillowcases, four sheets, and a large bag of fabric to support the project. The items were delivered to the church this spring, where they will be made into dresses and sent to the organization for distribution.
Brown Deer Junior Woman's Club members helped with two mailings at Soles for Jesus in May and August.
On August 6, 2026, along with other volunteers, they helped to prepare over 5,000 pieces of information to mail about SFJ’s annual luncheon and auction that will occur on November 7, 2026.
All the proceeds benefit their mission which includes supplying shoes to people in various countries of Africa.
Thanks to club member Laura Smith for submitting this great story and pictures.
Brown Deer Woman's Club, along with other local organization and businesses, had a table at the National Night Out event held on August 6th at Brown Deer Village Park. It is a free, family-friendly community event sponsored by the Brown Deer Police Department.
The Creative Minds committee got together on August 26. They made two birdhouses and a teacup centerpiece for the Great Lakes Region Conference in Pewaukee. Fun was had by all.
Thanks to club member Debbie Woods for submitting this great story and pictures.
