On Monday, May 4, 2026, 11 members of the Brown Deer Junior Woman's Club members volunteered in the shoe warehouse of Soles for Jesus to prepare shoes bound for the African country of Mali. Together they put new shoelaces in donated shoes, sorted shoes, and put new insoles into new shoes.

In the 16 years of Soles for Jesus’ ministry, they have shipped shoes to 35 African countries. The group was told that every 3-4 weeks Soles for Jesus ships 6,000-8,000 shoes to African countries based on need.  

Club members volunteering at the event felt very satisfied about using their time to support SFJ's cause. Having shoes to wear enables employment for people, allows children to go to school, and encourages a healthier life.
