Members of BDJWC and Convergence participate in Light the Darkness event

The GFWC Brown Deer Junior Woman’s Club and Convergence Resource Center teamed up to "Shine a Light" on Human Trafficking. Light the Darkness, a national event sponsored by the Samaritan Women - Institute for Shelter Care, raises awareness about domestic human trafficking and the lack of resources available for survivors.

Twelve members of both organizations, including one supportive spouse / photographer, braved the wind chill and met on the corner of 51st and Brown Deer Road with lights and signs to draw attention to Human Trafficking on National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, January 11, 2021.

At 7 pm, we waved lights and signs for 11 minutes.  We were well received by the traffic as many cars and trucks sounded their horn in support.
