Just Warming Up

On Saturday, October 15th, several GFWC Brown Deer Junior Woman's Club members joined a group of volunteers from St. Bernadette Catholic Church's Sleeping Bag Ministry to help assemble sleeping bags for the homeless.

The bag covers are cut and sewn from recycled fabric and bedding. At the assembly sessions, filling materials are added to the covers and then quilted together.  After the final sewing, which includes adding men's neck ties to tie the bags, the sleeping bags are taken to the Maccanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary for distribution to those in need.

The Club helps in other ways as well.  Usable bedding items left over from our rummage sales are given to the group. In addition, two Club members are also sewers for the group.

It is a worthwhile program that the Juniors are happy to support.
