GFWC International Day of Service

September 2026
Members of Brown Deer Junior Woman's Club present a donation of personal hygiene items to Andria De Toro, Sojourner Family Peace Center, and Brown Deer Police Chief Nimmer and Lt. Govani.
For the GFWC (Greater Federation of Women’s Clubs) International Day of Service, Brown Deer Junior Woman’s Club members gathered donations of personal hygiene items for domestic violence survivors in our community. Coordinating efforts with the Brown Deer Police Department and the Sojourner Family Peace Center, members gathered over 360 articles such as soap, body wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, emery boards, feminine hygiene products and several items for young children to provide stress relief. Impressions Salon also provided a generous donation of hair products.
Several members presented the donations, along with organizer drawers, at the Brown Deer Police Department on September 23rd, where they were gratefully received. Staff will distribute the items as needed to survivors.
We were reminded that the donations not only support survivors financially, but provide them with a level of dignity that is an essential part of their healing journeys.
Thanks to club member Meg Lillie for submitting this great story and picture.
